Vegan Jerk Spice Tofu Recipe

vegan jerk spice tofu recipe

If you’re ready to heat things up with your next meal, you’ve come to the right recipe! This vegan jerk spice tofu recipe is meant to be HOT – like any good, authentic Jamaican jerk spice, right? After all, there’s a reason that there aren’t any authentic mild jerk spices out there. This recipe takes just 20 minutes to make and produces three bowls at about 240 calories each. It’s an awesome option for lunch or dinner – and for meal preppers.

Why you’ll love this vegan jerk spice tofu recipe:

  • Have you ever heard your parents say that plates should be colorful? Well, this recipe is what they were talking about. It’s the perfect blend of color, flavor and texture.
  • This jerk spice tofu recipe is perfect for meal prepping. Since there aren’t any real ‘wet’ ingredients, you don’t have to worry about the dish becoming too soggy over time. In airtight containers, this dish will stay good for up to a week in the refrigerator.

How to make this jerk spice tofu perfect:

  • Definitely use extra firm tofu: Softer tofu, like silky or medium, will have too much moisture in them and will come out too soft. When it comes to this recipe, the firmer the tofu, the better.
  • Be sure to press the tofu: No matter what tofu you use, it needs to be pressed for about five minutes to remove any excess moisture before cooking. This will help produce a perfectly crisp tofu for the dish.
  • Go heavier on the jerk spice: Tofu is a fairly flavorless ingredient, but it is great at taking on the flavor of the dish. Make sure you use enough jerk seasoning to satisfy your taste buds on this recipe. If you go too light, you might find it a bit bland.
