What is sriracha?

Sriracha is a hot sauce that’s commonly used as a condiment or sauce. Generally, it’s used as a sauce or a marinade. It’s usually made from a combination of chili peppers, vinegar, garlic, sugar and soft.

Is sriracha vegan?

This can vary from brand to brand. In most cases though, sriracha is vegan because it usually doesn’t contain any animal ingredients. Some brands do include fish sauce in their sriracha recipe though, so it’s a good idea to check the label before you purchase it.

If you’re looking for sriracha recommendations, some of the most popular brands are Huy Fong Foods Sriracha Sauce, Lee Kum Kee Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce, and Sir Kensington’s Fabanaise Sriracha Mayo.

All of these sriracha sauces are without-a-doubt vegan-friendly.

What is a good substitute for sriracha?

When it comes to hot sauces, sriracha is my personal favorite. I find it to be a bit creamier and hotter than many of the other hot sauces out there. However, if you’re in a pinch and just need some heat added to your food – any vegan-friendly hot sauce can be substituted for sriracha.

Where did sriracha originate?

Sriracha actually originated in Thailand, where it is believed to have been created by a Thai woman named Thanom Chakkapak in the 1930s who took it commercial after encouragement from friends and family.

Is sriracha bad for you?

Like most condiments, sriracha isn’t known for it’s nutritional value. But I wouldn’t go so far as to say sriracha is bad for you. In moderation, sriracha should be enjoyed to spice up your meals without too much worry about whether or not it’s good or bad for you.

Will sriracha go bad?

The shelf life of store-bought sriracha will always be at least a couple years. However, it generally stays good much longer than its expiration date. If you notice changes in your sriracha, such as a strange odor, drastic texture change, bad taste, or a different color, then it’s time to toss the sriracha in the trash.

Does sriracha have to be refrigerated?

No! Sriracha is fairly resistant to bacteria and doesn’t need to be refrigerated before or after opening. Just store it in a cool, dry place and you should be all set.
